won an auction-Bert H.
Hello Bert, from time to time
I've seen you critique a firearm
that someone owns,bought..etc..
I won an auction (gun broker auction number
146341877),if you have time could you
let me know how much I overspent.
I don't think this rifle is all original
but it doesn't matter to me
I have a piece of history but I
would like you to describe what
I bought,
Thanks ever so much
Ron

Any 94 shooter is worth what you paid. Enjoy. 0 -
It seems like the peep sight on it is worth a fair chunk, but the rifle itself looks like it's in good shape. I'd have taken that deal if I saw it locally. 0 -

Hello Ron,
What I see is a late production pre-war Sporting Carbine (May 1932 - 1938) that has been partially refinished. The stocks have been sanded and refinished, and the sling swivels added after the fact. The receiver frame also appears to have been buffed & polished, and possibly refinished with cold blue. The drilled & tapped holes in the receiver for the Williams peep sight most likely are not factory original either. The rear barrel band is on backwards.
In summary, what you have is an old Model 94 that is a shooter/hunter, and it is worth essentially what you paid for it.0 -

Thank you again Bert,I
took possession of the rifle
today and I am pleased as all
get out.I think from
now on I'll buy only
older firearms.The rifle
"holds" real well and the action
is slick.
