Pocket gun
Last night I stumbled upon a very cheap .25. I wish I put it in my favorites, but forgot. It was an APD, oe ACP, I can't remember. It was around $136, like I said it will be for play. Thanks for your help.

colt, browning and astra all made essentially the same gun. later on, astra actually made the Junior for colt. theyre well made guns, and less $$ than the colt's and baby browning.

These guns are inexpensive for a reason.
The ammo isn't that cheap. If you can find it (it isn't always easy to find), it costs $15+ per box which is as much as ordinary centerfire pistol ammo like 9mm luger.
The .25 ACP guns themselves are small, relatively inaccurate, and don't lend themselves to any kind of serious target shooting.
Worse than all of the above, the .25 ACP round is ballistically equivalent to a .22LR (at 4x+ the cost per round). In other words, its a round considered too weak to hunt anything bigger than say rabbits with. So why would you pick a round like that for self-defense given that nowadays there are similar sized gun that fire the MUCH more powerful .380 round?
In short, the guns aren't suited to shooting targets, they aren't well suited for self-defense, they can't be used for hunting, and the ammo isn't cheap.
IMO, instead of spending $140 on a .25, save your pennies, and go spend $200 on a .22LR pistol for fun/plinking instead. Since .22 ammo costs $3.00 per box, and the .25 ammo costs $15 per box, you'll actually save money with the more expensive .22 gun. Alternatively, you'll have a LOT more fun, since you'll be shooting 4x the number of rounds for the same cost.0 -
C'mon guys, he did say it was just going to be for play.
Having said that, I concur, you'd probably be happier with a .22 instead.
It's always better to get an expensive gun that shoots cheap ammo than versy-vice.0
