Colt Trooper ** pics added**
Grandfather gave me a colt trooper .357. Said he bought it used in the late 60's for 15 bucks! Anyways not concerned about value of this gun just trying to date the revolver.
Serial number on the frame behind the cylinder arm is 42680 and has a very small "C" stamped underneath that. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this a 6" blued in 357 or a 38 Special - or maybe a 22 lr? Original grips? The OM Trooper (as opposed to the newer Troopr MkIII) in whatever caliber uses the same action as the Python. Very nice gun and the factory grips alone run about $200.00. They were made from 1953 to 1969. 0 -

It is a 6" 357 and I assume they are the factory grips. Its not in pristine shape by any means but definately shooter quality revolver. hell, heres a pic....Ifigured it might be worth a couple hundred at best. Im no photogropher

Those are the correct factory grips, the top of the checkering following the medallion out line is right for the year. Looks OK for a 45 year old gun. 0 -
Colt also made the ".357" which is identical to the Trooper you have. They are both made with the Python action.
