    redfoxtoo,

Yes. However, it will not be properly headspaced or timed for top dead center with sights or writing. You will need a lathe, reamer and gauges to make it correct. Most folks use a gunsmith instead.

    Best.

Thanks nononsense, I intend to have a gunsmith do it...just wanted to know so I can maybe pick up a take-off in 308. Thanks, Larry.

Congratulations on the Mohawk. I also have a .308 Model-600 Mohawk, and it was my main meat cutter for deer back in Virginia. It is a fine, short, handy, fast handling rifle. Back in the 1980s I traded a Ruger .44 mag Blackhawk for it. The Blackhawk was like new but it was a piece of junk inside. On firing the recoil would lock up the cylinder. Had to send it back to Ruger to get fixed, and when I got it back I immediately got rid of it. Fool me once, shame on Ruger. Fool me twice, that would be shame on me. So, I traded it for the Mohawk, and an excellent trade it was.

So, let me see if I have this right. Ruger made a mistake, fixed it, and you immediately wrote them off?
Sounds like you made a good trade, but it would be a mistake to write off Ruger based on that one experience, IMHO. [:D][:D]

That is correct. I have a number of Ruger rifles, and a Ruger .357/38. But that .44 mag was a bummer. At that time several of my friends had the same problem with the their Ruger .44 mags. I am not aware that Ruger issued a recall or consumer alert about the problem, nevertheless the original manufacturing problem did exist.

Moonshine, Thanks for the tip. I haven't had a problem with the gun but will certainly comply with the recall. Larry.

OK, thanks a lot. I did not know about the Model-600 recall. I shall see about getting my rifle checked out.
