Swedish Model-38

I recently bought a very, very nice Model-38. It did not come with a sling. Back home I dug around in several of my junque boxes of goodies and pulled out what looks like a Model-38 leather sling, although I am not totally sure. I have been searching the internet and looking at photos of M-38s to see what the slings look like, and how they attach to the butt stock and fore stock areas. I have viewed quite a number of photos of Swedish rifles, including the M-96 and M-38. The photos appear to show that (possibly) there can be 3 or 4 different looking slings on the M-38. My questions are: 1) are there more than one type of sling appropriate to the M-38, and 2 ) if the M-38 sling uses a metal quick-clip on one end, does that quick-clip attach to the butt stock or the fore stock? [?] I would greatly appreciate if someone can provide one or more photos of what type of sling(s) is/are appropriate to the M-38. Thanks mucho.

    Wow, amazingly enough, it looks like my question has stumped the experts. Sixty-two people have looked at the question and no responses.

    Surely there's some Swedish expert out there who know the answer to this one. [|)][?]

    I have the book "The Swedish Mauser Rifles" by Steve Kehaya and Joe Poyer. Sorry, my scanner is on the fritz. But here is a link (if you want to buy the book). Once you go to the link, it has a picture of the book cover, which has a pic of a sling. I think the sling looks like a standard Springfield leather target shooting sling. Also there is a quick-clip attach, and it is on the buttstock end. The book calls the sling a m/41b sling and says it is very similar to U.S. 1907 rifle sling.

    Bergtreffer....gunprofit has it right. The M38 has only one type of sling and it is much like our 1907. The quick release clip was fitted over the butt stock although it will work either way. Good shooting!

    OK, thanks a lot folks. I have saved a number of photos from the WWW and from wherever I could find them. There are definitely different slings on the rifles, but it is likely that folks just put on whatever they had available. The real deal is what an original source material calls for. Anyway, thanks a lot.
