Need Help - About to Send a Shotgun - Please Help

About to Send an older Side by Side Shotgun with no serial number Across Stateline...

The Buyer did send me a copy of his current driver's license, and a copy of his FFL dealer's valid license along with a Payment by Money Order.

The payment is all good since its a US Postal Money Order.

But the FFL dealer Did Not Hand Sign the Copy of his FFL license in Ink, which I did clearly ask for,

Is that really necessary to be done ???

I did verify the FFL license on the ATF web site and its all good, valid and up to date, but is also registered to a PO Box Address.

Am I totally 100% safe to send it to the address of the FFL holder's PO Box Address ?,
even though he did not hand sign it in Ink and its also registered to a PO Box ?

Who will sign for it at the PO Box ?
as I only want to send it with signature delivery confirmation just to be safe on my end...

And is it an absolute must for the Copy of his license to be Hand Signed in Ink as I see others requesting same for a firearm o be sent across stateline,

even though it is all Valid and Up to Date ???

Can anyone help me with these questions please...

I want this transaction to be 100% perfectly legit and to be safe.

Is it ok to send ?

    Yes. You have verified that this is a FFL holder, and that you are shipping to a licensed address. As far as who signs- who cares, as long as someone signs at that address, giving you a traceable delivery.

    BTW, shotguns and rifles were not required to have serial numbers in the US until the 1968 GCA,

    Sounds good. FFLs fax legally, e-mail legally, which are "copies" also. Sounds ok to me...imo..nambu

    Should be two address on the ffl. Premise and mailing. Sounds like you are good to go.

    yes there are addresses, two premise and the mailing,

    and the info number is valid too after the check,

    so i send it to the mailing address correct ?

    and then no need to worry about the Hand Signing in Ink part ?

    I would think he would want it sent to the premises address, but it all depends on his situation; I'd ask first.

    Don't worry about the FFL copy not being signed. You don't even need an FFL copy. All you need is to know his number so that you can do an EZ-Check. Print out & retain the EZ-Check for your records.

    Whatever, be sure that nothing on the package, even the name of the recipient, indicates that the package contains a firearm. If it's "Bob's Gun Shop", make the addressee "Bob Smith" or "BGS".

    No, that is not a needed item anymore. That went out the door with being able to fax, or e-mail license copies. In fact, you don't even need a copy of the license anymore, just need the number, and do an FFL E-Z check to make sure it is valid, before you send it.

    As a non licensee you have no reason to even be seeing a hard copy of the dealer's FFL, wet signature or not, and he was in fact not obligated to send a copy to you. As a non licensee you need nothing more than the FFL number, which you can then run through the EZ-Check system in order to see that it is valid. A dealer can have his firearms shipped to any location in his home state that suits him, even those which are not shown on his license because the regulations allow for direct shipments to off site storage facilities for dealers (NOT for collectors) as well as warehouses. The premises address is where the dealer maintains his records for inspection, he is not obligated to keep so much as a single firearm there. The mailing address is where he goes to collect his mail. In many situations there is no direct mail delivery to a physical address and EVERYONE who lives in the area travels to the local PO to gather up their mail and parcels. Who signs for it at the post office? The box holder or his agent or anyone else authorized by the PO to collect mail from that box. Why do you care?

    That is not correct in the case of a licensed dealer, but is correct for those holding only a C&R FFL.
