Colt Python value
I have a 357 Magnum Colt Python handed down by my dad which is nickel plated and has pearl handels. According to the serial number, it dates back to around 1968. It is in good condition, and I am wanting to find out a ballpark figure on it's worth.

What would be a reasonable price for this revolver?
thanks
His reserve is $1200
No its not mine....just found it surfing and he lives in my area so I thought I might go look at it...why does the box help it sell if its not the matching box? Colt boxes that rare?0 -
Ought to go for $1000; probably several hundred more than that if the economy was better. 0 -
Im not sure its 98%, the pics arent the best, alot of scratches looks to me like IMO. Marks in the wood grips(pic #3) 0 -
It is in shootable condition only (less than 95%), the stocks show a lot of handling, nickel guns are not as popular as the blued Pythons with the guys who collect them and 4" barrels seem to bring more buyers. I'm thinking about $1200, which is scaring me because this is also Dano's estimate [:0]. If this were a 4" blue with nice stocks and in the same condition I'd be thinking $1500. 0 -
I think it will sell for $1,000 or slightly more. The box will help the sale somewhat. 0 -

is this your Python ? or someone else's0 -
Like has been said in previous posts to this topic. That gun has been used quite a bit. Well cared for, but the finish should not have all those scratches for a 98% gun. I personally wouldn't pay over $800.00 for it, but I am sure the selling price will be over $1k

I won't pay over 1000 0 -
Looks more like an 85-90% gun to me.

like marc and others have said, definately not a 98% gun. maybe 90%.
the box alone is probably worth $125-150, but it doesn't do much for the value of this particular gun. the seller is looking for "collectible price" but the gun's a shooter with the wrong box. not a collectible at all. it would sell at 900, but i don't think he'll make his reserve.
just my 2c
