Beretta specifically advises against the use of +P and +P+ and submachine gun ammunition in the Model 92FS. I advise that you use caution before settling on the most powerful round instead of the most effective round.

What's the most powerful cartridge/bullet to use in a Beretta 92 9mm within 10 yards?

I realize it won't "stop a bear", but what would be the best bet/most powerful for this gun?

Ok, the most "effective" round to use?

I'm only interested in what's intended for this gun, but the mouse joke is funny![:D]

I'd use a 124 grain Golden Saber over 6 grains of Unique which is a little "warm" as max. is listed at 5.9 grains. For any of my 9mm pistols I see what weight bullet gives best group at 25 yards with 90 grain, 115 grain, 124 grain and 147 grain. Start with one power and work up. Then start all over with another powder. I seem to like Unique and AA #5.

    Do you reload?

If not, any of the premium lines of self defense ammo should be fine. I've got Speer gold dots in several of my guns.

If you DO- and I caution against the use of reloads for legalistic reasons- whatever load has the highest velocity for a given bullet should be your choice.
