M16 parts
well, the spring catalog arrived and i had to order one of these, for nostalgia.
http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=602999
now, its been over 15 yrs since i detail stripped one of these, but it seems like there's a couple parts missing from the trigger group assembly. i know the disconnect is missing, but shouldn't there be another flat jigsaw puzzle piece part as well? I looked at m16 parts available on the internet and i don't see the part i think is missing. has my memory gotten THAT bad, or is something missing?
thanks
tom

Sportsman guide is selling all the parts for Vietman era M16 parts kits everything but the receiver. I was wondering if I could get a new ar 15 receiver and build a semi auto version will the parts fit and is it legal. 0 -
You sure can. Just make the pin sizes in the kit are the same size for the reciever you get. 0 -
These are the specific M16 fire control parts which the BATFE has deemed to be illegal to use in an AR-15 style rifle. Having any of these M16 parts in the lower receiver of an AR-15 which have not been properly modified to AR-15 specs is in fact a felony. Use caution.

These do come with M-16 fire controls (from the pic). Funny thing is ad says complete other then receiver but shows no barrel either.
They want $650 for it [xx(]

Everything that I can make out in the photo appears to be from an M16: Bolt, selector and hammer, but the trigger and disonnector are hard for me to tell. To be legal all of these parts would have to be replaced for use in a semi auto. 0 -
I can get the kit for $585 is that a bad price for all that 0 -
I just went to your link and like Mark says all the M-16 fire control parts will have to be replaced, plus the price for a barrel. The only way that set is worth the price, is if you need spare parts for a M-16.
If you shop around, you can buy all the parts and build a complete AR for not much more than they want for that kit [;)]0 -
Their ad indicates that the package includes a commercial barrel of unknown origin, length, & quality.
You might want to go to the ATF website & check out Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide (ATF P5300.4), specifically page 156, INFORMATION CONCERNING AR-15 TYPE RIFLES. That explains why you don't want to use any of the parts Mark listed in your rifle.
Littlegun, do what you want; you've been warned. As for me, I hate prison food.

It also looks like these kits include a military auto sear. That part wont fit in an AR-15 and mere possession of the auto sear with an AR-15 could get you arrested. 0 -
just say no to that deal 0 -
I had a idea that this was to easy I like the old Colts with the triangle forend but I am going to stay away from this one and just save up til I can get a real one. 0 -

replaced or modified...0 -
If the M16 parts are modified to AR-15 configuration then they are leagl to use in an AR-15 type rifle, but the modifications must be EXACTLY the same as the AR-15 spec part it replaces. Not quite enough metal milled out of the bolt carrirr and trouble awaits. 0
