MODEL 94 vs. MODEL 1894

Is there a difference and if so, what? I finally found a picture with the same size magazine tube as my 1904 MODEL 1894, but it's a MODEL 94. YIKES!

The only difference is the name, I cant remember what year they shortened it to the 94. Bert will be along soon.

In April of the year 1919, Winchester deleted the "18" and "19" from all of the various Model names, hence the Model "1894" became the "94", the Model "1912" became the "12", etc.

For the "Rifle" variant, all of the parts are interchangeable (except Take Downs versus solid frame).

As for the "Carbines", parts interchangeability (e.g. magazine tubes) depend upon the specific vintage of the gun. Early production Model "94" carbines (1919 - 1931) are not the same as later production (1932 - 1963) carbines.
