Timney and Rifle Basix make triggers for the Howa. I haven't put one in yet but probably will soon. My Wby Vanguard has a hitch in the trigger that is nasty and if the pull is adjusted to make that go away the safety won't engage. I'm not going to mess with it until after deer season so I'll try to get along with a 6+# pull with a click in it.

I know the Howa's are adjustable. I can't explain how to do them though. If you can't figure it out there are some gunsmithing books at the library that you can see what to adjust. If you adjust it yourself. If you're not mechanically inclined I would suggest taking it in. $25-$50 bucks to have a trigger adjusted is easy. Timney and Boyd also make triggers for the 1500 that are easy to adjust and you can find them at MidwayUSA and Brownells, as well as on auction here. They are easy to adjust. And, come with instructions in the package.

The howa triggers respond well to stoning and polishing plus a bit of adjustment.
