Any idea how many boxes of JOHN WAYNE 32-40 cartridges were made?

Yes, lots. I have three boxes, and two boxes of emptys. I bought an old model 94 32-40 SRC from a guy in town named Duke, he bought the shells because they had his name on them.[:D]

....and, if you're interested,
there's a penny auction, no reserve, on an old (I think) LYman sizing die for the 32-40.

That's a great story! I have my mom's, uncle charlie's 32-40,
hence my screen name and my concern for rounds. I have 4 boxes of Imperial cartridges and shells, and 14 boxes of John Wayne. I have
read the nickel-plated shells do not lend themselves well to multiple
reloading. I hope this is not so as I have 2 sons who DEFINATELY want
this 1902 or '04 rifle... (when I'm done with it!)0 -

I have hanging on the wall my grandfather's northern Minnesota white tail rack. He shot the critter in 1931 using a Winchester .32-40. It's a great rack too. 0
