my other post was going to be locked so I started a new one. Any info you can give me about my 1911A1 Ithaca (see my other posts for pics) would be great.

  I deleted my post on your original posting (to save space). Now, we've given you bonafides, price range, and that it's outwardly original.
  
  To keep with the 'original condition' spirit of the post, a teardown of the gun to show the markings on the barrel, etc. would be in order. However, I don't think the effort would much alter the value posted earlier (where you showed the photos).
  
  We can't trace the end-user (unit), but you already know that information. It's whatever unit 'gramps served in.
  
  Would there be anything else you would like to know? I, for one, can't think of anything else to tell you. Best, Joe
