Best scope mount for a FN Browning 22 auto

To drill or not to drill, that is the question. It currently has a wheel sight and I'm considering removal in favor of a scope mount. The one I had 40+ years ago had a scope mounted to the barrel and I'm leaning toward making this one the same way. Whose mount should I look for and what would be a nice scope combination for the Grandkids?

    The Weaver 60A is designed for the .22 auto.

    But, I never put a scope on my Browning because I didn't want to damage it. Even a mount that replaces the rear sight will damage the finish. Besides, the scope ruins the looks of the rifle, & makes it more difficult to take down & store.

    My thought is, let this be the rifle that helps them learn how to use iron sights.

    I basically agree with Neal Myers but Browning did market a mount and scope at one time. The mount attached by two screws into holes drilled and tapped into the barrel with the base extending back above but not touching the receiver. The 3/4" scope that was sold with the Browning name was made by Redfield and called, I believe, a Sportster. It was much higher quality than the 3/4" scopes that are commonly made for .22 LR cal rifles.

    I have both the Browning and Redfield available. The price of the Browning may give you a heart attack and the Redfield even a little heart flutter.

    I see Browning makes a mount too for considerably more than a Weaver 60A. Is it worth it? We'll only be plinking but this will be something GRandpa did "when I was young"
