ROCK ISLAND AND CITADEL 1911 pistols

Can someone give me some real information on which of these two pistols would be best as a personal protection concealed carry gun ?
I would like to get one and use it at local range until I am ready to drop coins on a Wilson or Nighthawk...etc

    I assume you are referring tot he rock island pistol made in the Philipines. I have their compact tactical and rally love it. Doesn't have the finish, etc of a wilson or kimber, but for the money, it's a great buy. Accurate, dependable and eats everything I feed it.

    I have a charles daly made by the same company in the phillipines. It shoots well and has never given me a problem. You can pick up a used S&W police trade in for about the same money and carry that till you get the cash up for what you really want. I have always bought and carried police trade ins as you do not have to worry about scratching them up etc. I carry a used S&W 6906 alloy frame and love it as the full frame all steel guns pull my pants around my ankles ha ha.

    Thanks to both. I had not thought about as police trade in. Good idea? What model is most available ? yes the Rock island I mention is the one from the Phillipines..>?

    What are you looking for in a police trade in.I know where you can get a 9 or a 40 Gock,Beratta or S&W for about 350 or less.A Glock 21 in 45 with 2 13 rd mags for 465 plus shipping.

    I am wanting and started out wanting 1911 information. Are there good used 1911 in .45acp caliber out there...I know beretta and Glock are good guns maybe something in used .45 is the way to go in one of these..I guess Beretta would be my first choice...Used police guns still sounds very interesting. I have my CCW and just want to carry something dependable.

    Check the auctions just last weak Locust Fork sold a REM. 1911 45 [mix parts] but a very clean shooter for less then 400[380 or 390].You may get lucky.

    there are a lot of 4506 smith and wesson used police guns out there in 45 acp. I had one and it shot well. Check KY imports, southern ohio gun and even gun broker.
