1911 Barrel Date help needed!
To keep this short and sweet. A government issue (1918) Colt 1911 45 was passed down to me from my grandfather. This gun did not make its way to an arsenal and it is 100% original and shoots like a dream. The reason I am posting this is because my grandfather also gave me a spare barrel that he had bought at the end of WWI just in case he needed one (he liked having spare parts for everything). I know this barrel is not from the same time period as my 1918. I am looking to find out what time period it does come from and a price range that this barrel would fetch?
The barrel has a gothic "H" and a gothic "P" (No serifs) on the area visible through the ejection port. The marking is correctly oriented when the pistol is viewed pointing to the Right and the barrel is viewed from above the pistol and the "P" is on the left. The lugs are machined with metal remaining in the front and rear of the slot, in such a way that the link will not fall lower than about 25 degrees from the axis of the barrel in the front, and in the rear. You cannot take the barrel out of the side if the link is to the rear. The inside of the Barrel is clean and has strong lands.
