.318 bore mauser

Hello...can i use regular 8mm brass to reload ammo for a old mauser with a .318 bore? thanks

    Yes, but you will need to have the proper dies to size it down from .323.

    You MAY be able to use regular dies if you leave the expander button out.

    EDIT: As a follow-up to what Jonk posted; if your bore does slug to .321, the bullets made by Hornady & Speer for the .32 Winchester Special are .321 diameter and, even though flat nose, at 170 grains would be good bullets for your purpose.

    Also it's worth slugging your bore. The I-bore Mauser ammo nominally used a .318" bullet, but with .321" grooves. The idea at the time was that the bullet would 'upset' into the rifling. Only a few tight Czech made replacement barrels actually have .318 (or tighter) bores, and if you have a gun that measures .321 a few companies make bullets in this diameter.

    Larger diameter jacketed bullets can be resized down to fit in Lee sizing dies.
