Winchester Model 70 270 Weatherby
I have been trying to find out if Winchester actually made any of these rifles in the Classic Stainless Steel Sporter version with the synthetic stock. I have ran several want ads for this gun with no responses. The catalog number was 11693. I have searched the net for information and have found none. Does anyone know for sure if this gun was actually produced?

This is a description I have on file and does not include the Weatherby chamber. However, please do NOT consider this to be a definitive answer to the question since there are always exceptions.
"The Model 70 Classic Stainless is designed with a stainless steel barrel and action combined with a composite stocks to make a very rugged rifle. The synthetic stock allows the rifle to takes humid conditions without affecting accuracy. The rifle is available in .270 Winchester and 30-06 Springfield with a 24 inch barrel and five round magazines. It is also available in the calibers of 7mm STW, 7mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 Ultra Magnum, and .338 Winchester Magnum with a barrel length of 26 inches and with three round magazines. Finally, the rifle is available in .375 H&H Magnum with a 3 round magazine and a 24 inch barrel. "

You may well have a tough time finding one but that's your year to look0 -
Thanks for the responses, I had an FFL for 32 years and was a big fan of the new Model 70 Classics. I sold a lot of them and started building a set of the Stainless Synthetics for myself. However, none of the distributors I dealt with ever had the rifle in 270 Weatherby. This has lead me to belief that they may not have made any. Does anyone know where the records for the New Haven plant went when it closed? And are they available to the public? 0 -
