Ever heard of this maker?

To all,

Recently ran across a vintage 16ga. SxS made by Bartels. Anyone ever heard of this maker? Looks like early 20th century craftsmanship - very nice. I can't find any reference to "Bartels" in any of my books. Any ideas?

  A detailed description of all markings and some pics would help. Smokeless or BP? My guess is that it is either german or english.

  No pic's - I don't own the gun. It is hammerless and is smokeless and NOT damascus. Only barrel markings are "A. Bartels" and "Waffenfabrik - Ruhr". Which I think means "weapons maker in the Ruhr valley".

  BARTELS WIESBADEN HOFWAFFEN FABRIK ANT
  and Bartels was a Dealer rather than a maker. Had a shop in Zella-Mahlis. A former gun making center.
  A search on 'GOOGLE' for Western European Arms Collector Association might have more information for You...
