This is your gov. in action. Find out if the guy is a member of SEIU and call his union rep. Ask ACORN for help.

calamitywood...the advice to call your congressman (or woman) is a good one and one that I follow anytime I have an "issue" with the Federal gov't. Each congressman is given staff to handle public services back home and I have had good luck in dealing with mine on issues involving everything from Social Security/Medicare to EPA. I have one of my Senators who's staff is really quick on following up when I hit a brick wall like evidently you have hit. I have found (and have heard back from some friends who are in the know) that a phone call from a Senator's office almost every time gets immediate response. Now, my state's two senators (one is VP) are rather well placed up the power chain but give it a try. It has worked for me in the past. Good luck!

If you decided you didn't want the ATF to complete the process [for whatever reason], you may be entitled to a license refund minus the processing fees. If you are asking for the application fee back due to ATF denial [again, for whatever reason] you still may not be entitled to all of it back..namely the processing fees. Best to call your district representative on this. Rgds, Joe

Thank you for the responses. The short version for why I'm trying to get the refund is; I sent the paper work in with my debit card number. They took the money and sent me a letter saying the paper work was not correct and said if I didn't correct it in 30 days they would refund the money. I called them the next day and asked them to go ahead and refund the money. Bob Walters of the ATF said "No problem but refunds were slow in coming and it would be about 3 to 4 months. When the time past with no check I called back and got an apology and the same story. This has happened since around August of 2008. Mr. Walters no longer returns my calls and I didn't know how else to handle it until today. I will try this route. I guess since it's such a small amount of money they are use to people letting it go and they don't have to give the refund. [:(!]
