    Look up inside the slide for the original S/N. It's in the space where the hammer moves.

    The original SN may be on the slide, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a felony to possess a firearm with an altered or removed SN (&, the receiver IS the firearm).

    ATFE has made exceptions on an individual basis. I would take photos of the gun & send them to ATFE with a request for determination of its legality. They will either give you a letter permitting you to keep it, or they will ask you to surrender it for destruction.

    Or, you could just bury it in the yard, & it will rust away to nothing. (You can list the grips on GB.)

    I have figured out the serial number. I am not a expert by any means on handguns. Long guns such as shotguns are more to my knowledge. At any rate the serial number is 331000. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the replies.
