Colt 1911 I.M.A.P????

Anyone remember about 10 years ago in shotgun news there was a surplus of cheaper Colt IMAP 1911 type .45acp? Was it an IMAP? Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about or am I way off?

    Maybe it was FMAP, not IMAP. They were from agentina I think.

    Yes, but you would have to fire up the Wayback Machine to get those prices and conditions, that site is seven years out of date.

    THANKS, Hawk![:)] I didn't even see that. I know I would not have sold mine for anywhere close to that. They only made so many and was curios of "where" these came from,,,,now I know,,seven years ago..nambu

    Yeh. They were made to Colt specs, and used different steel (Better? It was Swedesh), And they were both 1. About an ounce heavier due to reinforcement internally, and 2. Can interchange with period Colt M1911 parts.

    Here's the breakdown of Argentinian D.G.F.M-F.M.A.P's. Note, the earlier ones (pre DGFM marked) weren't Swedish steel, and I can't attest to the 'robustness' of the firearms made earlier than 1945. Best, Joe
