winchester 70 police sniper rifle

I have a model 70 that i was told was a uncataloged police sniper rifle.I got it years ago s.n. # G128933- dark park finish.Stock has a blind magazine and non-detachble sling swivels.Also has two recoil lugs,like magmun models.Gun was new but the seller never sent me the box.This is a .308.Anyone hear of such a rifle?Thanks mark.

  Mark,
  I have the same model , but in 30-06. bought it new around 1975 , cost then was $175.00 on sale at a then new gun shop. the rifle was marketed as a "Police" model though it is not marked as such anywhere on it. I think there were just the 308 and 30-06 offered. It has a dark oiled stock,blind magazine, parkerized finish,black recoil pad and came with a leather military styled sling. mine is my favorite hunting rifle for bear and deer with a leo 3.5x10 50mm scope. a very reliable and very accurate rifle. I wish I had bought the 308 at the same time .Bob

  Thanks for the info.I have never seen another one like mine before.I wonder how many were made.I love how the stock fits me,with the high cheek rest.
