My father gave me this pistol recently and I test fired it. It is a .25 caliber semi-auto pistol with a 6 shot mag. After a couple of rounds the pistol jammed and when I pulled the cartridge out of the gun it was cracked. I fired it again with same results. The cartridges have a crack in them like they expanded in the barrel which is why they jammed. Is the ammunition or the barrel the problem? Thank you for your help. Tom

  Ammo problem most likely. THIS might also be corrosive ammo and if so you need to clean the Barrel NOW

  I called a local gun shop and he told me the barrel was worn, causing the casings to expand. Anyone agree with this? I doubt if I can get parts for this gun anymore.

  Hello tom why don't you Take the pistol down to clean it at that time you can inspect the barrel . most worn/pitted barrels will cause lost in accuracy BUT NOT cause the case to split. Cases will split for 3 reasons #1 The chamber is wrong for the case you are trying to shoot the WRONG size cartridge for a gun chambered in another caliber "WRONG AMMO" #2 The chamber area of the barrel is Cracked "can see by inspection " Or #3 the ammo is old the cases are brittle and the Ammo is "NO GOOD" I suggest you either clean and inspect the barrel. Or get in your car and buy some CORRECT NEW ammo Or take it to a GUNSMITH. VIA the internet will NOT be anything but a guessing game.

  I took the gun apart and cleaned it. The barrel is not shiny but isn't pitted either. Never owning a semi-auto before I'm not sure this is right but, the barrel looks like the part where the cartridge slides into it is larger than the part where the bullett enters. It is the model 1 Schmeisser in .25acp. I will take it top a gunsmith. Thanks for all your help. Tom
