Just another AR, only it has a piston. Ruger name means a good warrenty (milage may vary). Not much else to say.

Ruger used to make solid guns at a good price.
This is a solid gun at but is overpriced.
    Just my humble opinion.

Seems like it comes with alot of nice options included. I would be tempted by it and the Para Ordnance AR. I like Para's side folding stock a little better.

I'm not a fan of AR's, but I do like the products Ruger turns out, so all in all I'd say you couldn't go wrong with it.

At least it's not like the H&K 416 that has few if any parts in common with real AR's.

The whole point of the HK 416 is to make it more robust then any piston AR on the market. They have accomplished that. I don't think these little tiny op rods will hold up in time or shooting a 1000 rounds a day.

(AHEM) Strongly suggest that anyone contemplating buying a Ruger product read their warranty statement. Ruger firearms are sold "As-Is, and With All Faults."

Wanna see my P97 with the broken frame they refused to repair?

    Caveat emptor.

well aside from the piston system, ruger has created a solution for the troy hand guards floating zero problem by adding a picatinny front sight base that integrates with the upper handguard.

Used To, pretty much answers your question.

So there are no considerable improvements in the opperating system?

I would wait for a year or two, untill the jury gets back in on the Ruger 556. It is way to early to tell with that. Remember that all of Ruger's frames ON EVERYTHING they make are investment cast...not forged.
