Marlin 1898 Shotgun "NEED HELP"

    TAKE DOWN BARREL REMOVAL


    Find The spring loaded button at the front end of the magazine tube, depress it, turn the tube counter clock wise until the long slot in the tube lines up with the barrel tang pull the tube forward over the magazine tube plug, the push button will now lock into the second hole in the tube and will clear the receiver.

    Pull the pump arm forward until the notch in it lines up with the slide stop, pull forward on the forearm until the arm and stop clears the receiver. Now the barrel will thread off clearing the tube and slide.

    Loosen the screw in the barrel lock nut, take a brass hammer and drift and tap up on the ring and it should release the barrel from the receiver, Now you can thread the barrel off, remember the threads are left hand.

    Because Marlin will tell you it is a "wall hanger" only.
