date ted williams guns

#1 ted williams 12 ga. ser # p337XXX

#2 ted williams 20 ga. ser # p195XXX

i belive they are winchester 1200 made for sears with the ted williams name. just wounder how old the are.

Serial number is no help without knowing the Sears model or catalog number. When we know that we can cross reference the gun to the original manufacturer and then tell you what you want to know. However I strongly suspect he gun was made by Winchester.

20 ga. is 273.5450

12 ga. is 273.515051

The "273" prefix appears to indicate WINCHESTER as the manufacturer of your 20 gauge.

The "278" prefix appears to indicate that COOEY manufactured your 12 gauge.

That's about all that I can tell you.

Pit- the numbers with the decimal point are not a serial number. They are a Sears model number, which contains a clue to the maker. Serial numbers were not required in the US on rifles and shotguns until the 1968 Gun Control Act.

The Sears Model 200 first appeared in the Sears catalogs in 1965 and Sears stopped selling guns in the early 1980's

the 12 ga. was a 273 also.

thought i could narrow it down to year made like others with the ser #.
