.22 Long Rifle Barrel Buldge

I have an old (1935) Remington Model 241 Semi-auto .22 Long Rifle that has a barrel buldge about 10" down from the muzzle which is 24" long. It is almost not noticeable to see...in fact when I purchased this gun, I did not notice the buldge. At the time, I fired about 2 or 3 rounds and it worked fine and was fairly accurate. Later, by feeling...I noticed the buldge. My MAIN concern is the safety not the accuracy. Would one consider this gun to be safe? THANKS!!!

  As safe as it would be if it didn't have the bulge.

  No problem with safety I have seen some gallery guns that had 1/2 doz. buldges never saw a barrel that let go.

  Michibay, Its a small world LOL, I have my dads old 241. It has a buldge in about the same place as yours.Been that way for the last 50 yrs still works & shoots fine.I remember dad cussing some not so good ammo seems 1 got stuck coon hunting.The next round pushed it on out= the buldge.

  I had a 241 with a bulge in the barrel but I think it was .22 short only [:0][?]
