i recently bought a box of .32 smith & wesson ammo manufactured by remington, i tryed fitting them in the clip of my .32 guardian and they wouldnt fit, Why is that?

  A gun question- Friends have a .32 Smith & Wesson revolver. They have a box of shells which is labeled ".32 S & W Long". Are all .32s the same, or is there a standard .32, and a .32 long? Can either be fired in a .32 revolver?

  They are not the same length so a revolver chambered for the .32 S&W can't handle the .32 S&W Long. On the other hand, any revolver that fires the .32 S&W Long will also fire the shorter .32 S&W.

  They both have the same chamber pressure so if it fits, fire it.

  There are two cartridges, the .32 S&W (which is not called "short" even though it is a pretty short round) and the .32 S&W Long.
  The old topbreaks are for .32 S&W, the Hand Ejectors (swing out cylinders) are for .32 S&W Long but will shoot .32 S&W just fine.
  
  The .32 Short and Long Colt have been obsolete for around a hundred years.
