Remington 870
Do they or don't they (remignton that is) make an 870 with a 7-shot magazine as opposed to the ubiquitous 6 shot I see everywhere? I seem to recall seeing one in Shotgun News but I haven't been able to find one on GB. If so, where can I get one?

is there any way to change an 870 that only shoots 2 3/4 inch shells to accomidate 3 or 3 1/2 inch shells? 0 -
If you have a 870 with a 16" barrel you better get rid of it as it has to be 18" or longer to be able to own unless you have a tax stamp for a short barreled shotgun 0 -
Get rid of the barrel. You need not dispose of the gun.
First make sure you measured it accurately.0 -
To answer your question, yes you can get different length barrels.
Search firearm parts-shotgun-barrels-870, on the auction side.
If you are measuring your barrel from the end to the reciever, mabe that is where you are getting the 16". Take the bbl. out and measure to the chamber.
Does it look like it has been cut down [?]0 -
C;ose the action, put a dowel rod in the muzzle end and mark it. Remove it and measure from the end to the mark on the dowel. I may be 18". 0 -
When you go to get a barrel for that 870, make sure you know the origional chamber size: 12 guage comes in 2.75, 3.0 and I think 3.5 inch shells. The 2.75 chamber size has a 3 inch opening for ejection. When a 2.75 inch shell is fired, the crimped end extends out, so the ejection port is 3+ inches long. Look on the barrel and see what chamber size it is, usually 2-3/4 or 3 inch. Be sure to get the same chamber size for your new barrel. Also, dowel or no dowel - I would trash a barrel that is not 18+1/4 from front of breach to hard steel muzzle - no questions asked. Otherwise, you might find yourself in jail in the backwoods of Alabama on a cold cemenent cell for weeks - trust me - it is not worth it, all becasue the Sherif did not have a dowel. Besides, best pattern and best construction, best velocity - get a 20 inch buckshot barrel with iron sights for that cannon - it will shot like a rifle and pattern buckshot like a queen !! 0
