Stevens 311A 410 ga., with a circle located on bottom of receiver between front of trigger guard and hinge pin with 188 in center. No serial #.

What is the date of mfg.?

  Stevens double barrel shotguns were not all serial numbered untill the Gun Control Act of 1968 was enacted & required all guns to be numbered. Your gun was made before 1968.
  
  Stevens used a date code from 1949 to 1968. It consisted of a number & letter in a circle usually located between the trigger guard & hinge pin. With a magnifying glass, re-read the numbers & letters found in this area.
  
  If the 1 you posted is infact an I, 1957 is the date. If one of the 8's in actually a B, 1950 will be the date.
