How do you remove the gas block on a DPMS Barrel?
ok, running into a problem I have never had before. I am attempting to remove the front sight/gas block on a new DPMS AP4 barrel and am coming to no success. I am using the correct size punch and am also using a Brownells front sight "Orange Block". I know I am going the correct direction for removal and after many many good wacks the pins have not moved a bit. I am worried that I will start to "mushroom" the pins and dont want to deal with drilling the pins. I have done this many times before and have never had this problem. Is there a trick or something I am missing from removing the gas block from a DPMS AP4 barrel?

You could try to heat the block up. Try a heat gun, or a hair dryer, just be careful not to discolor it. 0 -
Use a short starter punch and a bigger hammer [;)] There is a post from armalite15 about a week ago on the same problem. 0
