FN Brownings Patent Hi Power Provenance ??

I just acquired the following Hi Power.

On the slide is stamped 24487.

On the barrel is 487.

On the frame is 487.

The finish has a patina, but no rust, and two or three pits on the muzzle end of the slide.

The bore is crisp, but obviously fired.

I would appreciate being told the approximate value and DOM.

    F sideways 6 or 9 or perhaps a flaming pot - this stuff is very small. I or F and a **


    It's roll marked on the slide:
    FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE
    HERSTAL - BELGIQUE
    Browning's patent depose

    Nothing on the magazine.

    Further thoughts ??

    not german it would have the A or B and the germ acceptance stamps.it is post occupation standared fixed site model..is it the internal extractor??

    It does not have the external extractor, which came in in around 1962 but does have the indentation (or whatever it is called) on the lower right of the slide, which was not eliminated until 1952-53. What I noticed is that there is no pin in the trigger for the magazine disconnect and I thought that all of the pistols produced after the end of German occupation had that feature restored.

    There is no magazine disconnect. It will fire with the mag missing. It has the best trigger I have ever felt in a box-stock Hi Power.

    I've had a number of old Hi Powers and I always thought that that was part of JMB's original design.

    I don't know anything about the value but i agree with you on your feelings about Hi Powers. Great guns. I like mine as well. Congrats on getting a great pistol.

    Your best bet is to check the online auction sites and see if one similar has sold lately.

    IMO, it's a shooter in the 300 range.

    I'm going to WAG $400.

    Its certainly a "shooter" (ie no collectors value), but its hard to find any original HP for under $400 nowadays.
