J C Higgins 16 gage
I have a model 583.18 16 gage bolt action. Does anyone know if other models like a 583.21 bolt will work in my gun?

The J. C. Higgins Models 583 through the Model 583.23 are listed as bbeing the same as the High Standard Model 10. J.C. Higgins model numbers are actucally catalog numbers and designate who made the gun, the gauge, etc. So I suspect the parts are not interchangeable. 0 -

It came from the cross reference sheet from the Gunpartscorp web page. 0 -
There are a number of errors in the Gun Parts Corp. cross reference relative to the High Standard made guns for Sears and Western Auto 0 -
This makes it fun. One site says High Standard Model 10 and one H&R Model 120. So which one?
I know the gun has a recall on it, but I would like to get it complete.
If anyone knows where I can get a 583.18 bolt, let me know.

Take a look at the pictures of this gun and see if it looks like yours. This one is a model 121 because its a 20 gauge. A 120 will be exactly the same only in a 16 gauge.

Thanks for the pic. My gun is a little different. Different safety switch and mine has a screw that goes thru the stock about 1/2 way up the fore arm.
Must be a high standard then.
That helps me a lot.
