Best 1911
I want to get a model 1911 .45. It seems that almost everyone makes a model 1911 now. I am looking for thoughts on who makes the best. I do mostly target shooting.

+1 for 70 series Colt, but you must know you can spend ALL the money you want on a 1911. Spend until you feel the pain, if you want, but when all's said and done, you've been given good advice. Buy a Colt 70 series.

Buy the best Colt you can afford. If you're on a budget look at Rock Island. 0 -
Here's mine. Its a "plain" series 70 Colt with Bomar match sights and the questionable "collet" bushing. Its even MA-compliant. (If you're from MA, you'll know what that means, if not, feel grateful that you don't).
Can't say with certainty that its the "best", but it certainly doesn't "suck", and I have to say, I was pretty darn happy to get my hands on it! You definitely won't go wrong with a Gold Cup if you want a high quality 1911.
I do think lots of the top-tier guns are pretty good. For example, Les Baer is one that does put out a pretty good product.
By the way, anyone want to tell me what kind of finish my gun has? It looks like brushed chrome. Is that possible/right?0 -
