a friend has a S&W 38 revolver that is stamped on top US Government G.D.H. it has a leather holster that has a clip to attach it to a g.i. equipment belt the revlover also has a sling swivel on bottom of hand grip hes wanting to know if it has collector value and where to find someone who may want to buy it.

If it looks like this one? It's a "Victory Model" Smith & Wesson, made during World War II. If factory original, Very Good condition or better it would have some collectors value. Post some quality photos of the S & W for valuation input from our members.

How much value it has depends on the condition and exactly what it is.
Pictures would be are necessary for a proper evaluation by the board experts. **GOOD** pictures (like the one Rufe linked to above) would make this much better. If you don't know how to post pictures, see the "sticky" in the ask the experts page on this exact topic.
If it *IS* a "Victory" revolver (and it likely is. . .there are a lot of them out there), in GENERAL these are worth between $150 and 500 depending on condition and exact details.
There are many ways to go about selling a gun, for example: putting an ad in the local paper or "Want ad" (really not recommended), having a local gun shop sell it on consignment, word of mouth among friends (assuming your state allows face-to-face gun sales), etc.
One very nice way to go is to list it for auction on the Gunbroker.com auction site.
With the appropriate listing (GOOD pictures, GOOD description, and starting at $0.01, ie a TRUE auction), you're basically guaranteed a sale, and the final sale price will almost certainly reflect the true market value of the gun.0 -
If you post pictures, put some of front and back of the holster. If in good condition it adds value to the gun. 0
