Shipping Ammo with UPS
UPS is not giving me a straight answer on if I need to classify ammo as hazardous material or not. How do you guys mark the box? Is there something special you put on the box that identifies it as ammo versus clothes or books?
Thanks,
Mike

orm-d in black letters works fine. 0 -
With the label ORM-D written on it, can I simply ship from any UPS store, pack and ship place, etc...? If they ask me if it contains anything hazardous and I say yes, will they take it?
Thanks,

It becomes hazmat over a certain weight limit, 60 lbs IIRC
Other than that, "ORM-D small arms ammunition"0 -
I shipped some last week, and they told me the ORM-D has to be in a box now and small arms ammo has to be written under it. 0 -
You must ship from a UPS/Fedex company customer counter (hub), no other location.
Failure to describe the contents of your package to the shipper could result in federal charges.

Just put ORMD in a square on the box, nothing else is necessary. 0 -
Spend 4 bucks and do it right....http://v4.beta.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=142329656 0 -
ORM-D on the label in pen has always worked for me. 0 -
UPS outlets will not accept ammo, even with the proper labels. Have to take it to the main hub. 0 -
I sent a box of 50 rnds a month or so ago. As others have said, I printed "ORM-D" with black majic marker and drew a box around it. USPS were just fine with it. I've never tried UPS. 0
