Hi-Standard 22LR

I have an 'older' Hi-Standard Supermatic Citation, 22LR, 7 1/4 Fluted barrel.
I do not see any reference to 'Model' other than Supermatic Citation.
Is there another model reference I should be looking for when trying to determine its value?

    Before 1973 High Standards had a small series designation from 100-107 on the slide. Blue Book has a litte information, after that you have to go to the specialists.

    You got a serial number?
    Is your gun a slant grip or military?

    You can expect the "real" Hi-Standard experts to chime in here, but your model IS "Supermatic Citation".

    IIRC, "Citation" is the actual gun model, and "Supermatic" is the finish level, with that one being the standard (not economy or deluxe) finish.

    As mentioned, these come in two flavors: Slant grip (see below), and "military" grip, which mimics the grip shape/angle of a 1911 pistol. Die-hard .22 only shooters like the slant grip as it helps to "lock" the wrist for a more stable shooting platform. Obviously, a grip that mimics a 1911 is useful for training, or maintaining the same grip angle in a three-gun competition.

    Here's mine, a slant grip 104 series from the 1960s with match grip. barrel weight and compensator. This one is my absolutely favorite gun (period). Light crisp trigger with no overtravel, great target sights, and the slant grip means it practically aims itself. Target is a legitimate one-handed 50 foot slow-fire group shot by yours truly:

    Hi all,
    Thank you for the info. The pistol I found out was Mfg in 1972, serial # 2,376,460, and indeed is a 'Supermatic Citation' w/o any other model description.
    I tried to include a picture, havent figured it out yet.

    2,376,460 shipped as a catalog number 9243 with key serial number 2,375,891 on 5/23/1973 to account number 774059 on invoice number 03727.

    It went to assembly 3/22/1973 and was packed 4/25/1973.

    This is an unmarked 107 series pistol In teh early 1970's the former practice of marking the design sereis number on teh guns was phased out. As near as I can tell, the pistols dropped teh design series number first. This was not a change in design but simply a change in marking practice.


    For reference the slant grip Supermatic Citation was never offered with the 7.25" fluted barrel.
