Old Marlin Safety 38W

I have a Marlin 38 W with "Marlin Safety" stamped on top of the reciever. On the barrel it has two patent dates: October 11th, 1887 and April 2, 1889. I cannot find a model number on the gun. The Serial Number is 48593. Can you tell me what the Model Number is or the year it was made? Any idea of the rifle's worth? It has a 24 inch long round barrel. Lever action.

  From the markings and serial number, it's a Model 1889. They were made between 1889 & 1899.
