.25 acp

I'm looking to buy a .25 acp. I'm looking at the older .25 acp colt, its look a like the .25 acp cub or the newer .25 acp 21 bob cat made by beretta. Which is the better .25 acp, the older original .25 acp pocket pistols or the newer 21 bob cat? I'm just messing around at the range and I'm not interested in a .22 at this moment. Thanks.

    The origonal Colt 25 is by far the better pistol. I own one that was made in 1916. I own 2 Astra 22 shorts that are the same pistol as the later Colt. They work ok, but are not the quality of the early Colts. I have a Browning 25 and a Beretta 25. They also work well, but are not the quality of the early Colt 25acp.

    Look for a used Bauer copy of Baby Browning; you'll be impressed by the quality.

    I would avoid the Bauer; a critical manufacturing problem (the sear pin is too short) could easily cause failure at any time, rendering it useless.

    The Beretta 21A is a nice gun, but a little too big & bulky for a pocket gun; the Beretta 950 would be a better choice.

    I agree with most of what's been said already.
    i have the colt 1908 vest pocket and the later "junior". both great guns, but are getting pricey (anything with the colt name costs more).
    the astra is the same gun as the colt junior (astra made the colts) but sells for 1/2 the price of the colt. I have other guns made by astra and the workmanship and quality is top notch.
    the astra is the best value in my opinion.

    BTW, if youre looking for a nice gun for carry, look at the colt 1908 .380 hammerless (and clones). reliable old manufactured quality, easy to conceal and more powerful than the .25. (the 1903 hammerless is 32acp)
