22 savage hi power insert

does anyone know if savage or any other supplier made a insert for a 22 savage hi power that allowed you to shoot 22 rimfire ammo? what would the value be?

    Welcome to the Gunbroker Forums!

    It would be a little unusual to have an insert for the .22 Savage Hi-Power chamber because the barrel requires bullets that are .228" in diameter as opposed to the .222" diameter of the rimfire ammunition. You wouldn't have any accuracy to speak of since the bullets would 'bounce' down the barrel without the guidance of the rifling.

    Maybe just something to sell that would not have worked well when they got your 75 cents (in 1939.) But Marble's did make their Auxiliary Cartridge to shoot .22 long rifle in .22 Savage High Power and claimed to be "Recommended by Savage Arms Co. for .22 H.P."

    The mismatch got worse, they would also sell you an adapter to shoot .25 ACP (.251") in a 6.5 Mannlicher (.264"). Wow.

    There was one sold on the auction side for $11 and the vendor did not even know what calibers it was for.

    Yes, they were made in .22 hi power for the 22 long rifle cartridge. I have seen them advertised on E-bay. I have several that I bought in the 60's. Hawk is right about the mismatch. I have one for 32 special that shoots 32 acp. .311 versus .321!!! But it shoots fairly accurate at close range. You want a Marbles auxiliary cartridge #161 as advertised on page 383 in the 1948 Shooters Bible.[:D][:D] 61 years ago they sold for $1[:0]. Good luck, Eddie
