Winchester, despite what alot of the books say, did install ribs on M42s. I recall two or three that were done in the Custom Shop in the early 1980s during my employment there. This was not the norm. A Winchester rib on a M42 is very rare.

Thanks to the both of you for responding.
Wasnt sure if Simmons put on all of the ribs or not. This subject was somewhat debateable. Some ribs were marked by Simmons and some Simmons ribs are not, they did/do both.
    P. Muerrle, I have read some of topics you have discussed. Winchester collectors and forum members are truly fortunate to have someone of your exsperiance and background.
    Thank you

Still try to figure out how to navigate on here. Any way,The vent rib barrel in the formention, the vent rib that ended at the barrel extention or one similar to that. There is currently a 42 being auctioned at gun broker Item # 141482566
