Browning Dura-touch coated stocks

Anyone have any experience with these. My son worked 2 summer jobs to save up and buy a Browning Sliver Stalker(black synthetic). After 2 goose hunting excursions there is flaking on the stock. Does Browning put a coating on that needs to come off? I am going to contact Browning, just seeing if anyone has any first hand knowledge on this.
