S&W pre M10 DOM and apprasial
Greetings: Photos are of a recently accquried S&W. Could I get a date of Manufacture and opinions of it's condition?? SN is C 312505 as you can barely make out in photo, Back-strap and grip area have some wear/ rust and a small (1/8" spot above the cyl latch. Rest looks to be pretty good.
Thanks in advance.

Probably 1956 on the DOM. I think the grips may not be original as I would expect to see the diamond (where the screw is) on this vintage. You can probably confirm by taking off the stocks and checking to see if there is a number on the underside of one of them. In the '50s the stocks usually were also marked with the gun's serial number. If you're not familiar with S&W grip removal be careful when you take them off. Remove the screw part way, then rap lightly on the top of the screw which will unseat the right stock. My SWAG on value is $300-$400. 0 -
You have a .38 Military and Police made in 1955. It should have Diamond Stocks on it. The stocks are from a later model.
Value-$3000 -
The hammer is not original to that gun. "Target" hammers were not used on M&P revolvers. 0
