Savage 1917 32 auto
I have a Savage 1917 32 auto which is in excellent to as new condition which may have never been disassembled. I am familiar with the disassembly of my Colt 1903 32 auto and thus assume that with the slide pulled rearward at some point. the barrel can be turned to alluw disassembly. I may never have reason to disassemble it but is there any special hints or tricks I should be aware of? thanks!

The Savage isn't disassembled like the Colt. The rear portion of the slide that constitutes the hammer and associated parts is removed first. It has to be turned 90 degrees clockwise.
Best thing for you to do would be to obtain a copy of the NRA handgun disassembly handbook. It has specific illustrated instructions on the disassembly of the Savage and many other handguns.
You also might try GOOGLEing on then off chance somebody has put either videos or instructions on the net.0 -
Thanks: I found the instructions immediately via Google. 0
