Can I sell a MA registered gun in NH?

Can a Massachusetts registered gun be put on consignment in New Hampshire? And if I have 1500 7.62x39 rounds still sealed would a gun shop buy them at a discounted price?

    Not exactly.

    Federal law says that you can only sell a firearm to:
    1) A resident of your state (state & local law permitting), or
    2) To a dealer in any state.

    So, in effect, you would have to sell (transfer) the gun to the NH dealer. If it didn't sell, the NH dealer would have to return it to you; that could be a problem, as you would have to convince him that he doesn't need to return it to you by way of a MA dealer.

    Consignment selling is risky. If the gun shop goes bankrupt, your gun is listed in their bound book & locked in their safe with the rest of their inventory. You may never get your gun back, through no fault on your part. Yes, selling a gun here on Gunbroker is a little work, but far safer & much more profitable.

    As for your ammo question, the only way to find out is to ask. It could be risky for the shop owner, as he doesn't know how you stored the ammo. If you have had it in the attic of your summer home in Death Valley for the last 5 years, it would be worthless; he doesn't want to sell it, then have a disgruntled customer complain. Far safer for him to stick to ammo he gets from his distributor.

    If you want to sell an MA-registered handgun on consignment in NH, you'd have to go through an FFL in NH, but other than that, I don't see why you couldn't do it. Just check with the NH FFL to make sure he/she is comfortable doing it.

    So far as I know, the State of MA doesn't seem to have a problem with guns LEAVING the State, its the other way around that get it all annoyed. [;)]!

    As a minor secondary thing, I'm not entirely sure WHY you would want to do it, as there are plenty of dealers in MA who would be happy to sell the gun on consignment for you, and unless they are common in-production models, in *general* MA-compliant guns are worth more inside the State of MA.

    As to the ammo, you'd have to ask the gun shop in question if they'll buy it or not.

    I think in this climate of scarce ammo they probably would, for the right price, but I suspect you might do better just putting up an ad in the "Want ad" and selling it that way. You can figure that ordinary steel case 7.62x39 ammo is worth roughly $0.25 per round retail in bulk right now.
