30 06 Semi Auto Rifle

I have a friend who is looking for something like the Remington 750, Woodmaster semi auto rifle with a 22" barrel. He is not interested in military style rifles and I would like to give him some alternatives from you guys.

  The Winchester SXR, Browning BAR or Long Trak, or Benelli R-1 are all much better than the Remington design. They are also a little more pricey, but they are worth every penny. I'll put it to you like this. If he buys a Remington, then trys one of the three mentioned, he has just lost a bunch of money he spent on the Remington. He will not be satisfied untill he owns one of the others, and no one will give him anywhere near what he paid for the Remington on trade.

  I have a Remington woodsmaster 30-06 carbine and it is good enough for what it is, though heavy and by no means the best choice..
  
  I agree with TSR, have him look into a Browning BAR or better yet the Benelli.
