Browning superposed need rebuild??

I recently aquired a 1958 Browning Superposed in what appeared to me to be 95-98% condition. The only real problem I could see was a recoil pad that was hard and cracking. I sent the gun to a highly recommended gunsmith service to have the pad replaced. I received a call from the gunsmith working on my gun, who just wanted to inform me that he thought the gun needed a rebuild. Since the gun felt very tight to me, I ask why he felt that it needed a rebuild. His response was that he could tell by the position of the "break lever" on the top of the gun. Since this is the first Superposed I've ever owned I'm not sure if I'm being told correctly??? Help.....

    If I remember correctly, it is slightly to the right. Not positive......will have to check when I get it back.

    Sounds like he used to work in the tire store at Sears. [V][:(!] Get a second opinion. The superposed is a very well made shotgun and should be able to fire many shells before a REBUILD

    Tell him you want to shoot it and see how it performs first. Is the checkering real worn? This would be one indicator of heavy use. Post some phots on here when you get it back and these guys could give you a 2nd opinion anyway.

    If the top leaver is right of center when the action is closed, there is little if any real wear on the lock-up of the receiver.
    A worn Browning is going to be REALLY obvious. It would "feel" loose. Tip the gun upside down with the action closed and shake it side to side...you'll feel the bbls wobble if its all that worn. Sounds like BS to me.
