Best procedure for nickel, and polished guns

How do you guys care for your polished ss, and nickel plated firearms?

Special trips/tips for keeping them pretty?

  Put a coat of good auto wax on them.

  Ammonia is death to plating. Several popular gun cleaning products contain this; sorry, I don't have a list.

  Flitz or Metal glo type polish rubbed with a soft cloth will take of the haze and leave a nice bright finish. Wax on top will help keep it looking sharp.
  
  IMO the best way to keep them pretty is to handle them as little as possible (never is best).
  
  Seriously, those bright mirror-like finishes look great, but IMO they're less then ideal for a "working" gun, which you'll expect to get some wear and tear from normal use.
