Glock's Lead Up????
I purchased 500 rounds of lead cast bullets to load for my Glock 23. I see many people say never shoot cast bullets in a Glock! I have 2 questions; why do Glocks lead-up worse than other semi autos? Will firing these 500 bullets do any damage to my bbl? I haven't shot the Glock much since getting my XD, but really hate to waste 500 .40 cal cast bullets. Is brushing the bbl with Hoppes after each shooting enough to keep it lead free?

The type of rifling in a factory GLOCK barrel will lead up when shot with lead loads you may get a KABOOM after 2 round or 200 rounds or 2000 rounds after cleaning depends on how hard the lead is and what kind of load it is. Do you want to take the chance[:(!][xx(][V] . Replace the barrel with one with cut rifleing or take your chances. 0 -
DO NOT SHOOT LEAD IN A GLOCK FACTORY BARREL.
It uses Polygonal shaped rifling that scrubs lead off in gobs, accuracy is horrid at best.
It can create a dangerous situation real fast causing a KABOOM situation in your hand.
Purchase a cut rifling barrel for your Glock to shoot lead. I have 15,000 or so lead bullets down my cut rifling barrel with no issues.0 -

I've never seen one lead up in less than 200 rounds. That does not mean it can't happen. I advise a spare barrel just for lead bullets with standard cut rifling. I have a few spare barrels just for that purpose. They are usually drop in with no fitting required.0 -
I wrote Gloke a letter about using lead in there pistols and never got a reply. I shot about 250 round of .45 through the Glock and when I started to clean it up I found that it looked like the lead bullet was trying to shoot stright thrugh the rifling, I could see stright lines in the lead at the mid point of the barrel no deposit at the chamber or the muzzel. It took a long time to get the dam lead cleaned out the the barrel.

Get rid of the lead or buy a new barrel....very simple!0 -
This is not a Glock issue. This is a rifling issue and Glock is not the only one that uses it. ANY gun that has polygonal shaped rifling do NOT use lead.

What did you write to them about it? It says right in the book that comes with the gun (or that you can get for free by asking) not to shoot lead.0 -
I could not find any reference to not using lead in the manual after going over it three times, I did find this on page 38 item #3:
3. FIELD STRIP AND BARREL
INSPECTION. FIELD STRIP THE PISTOL,

On page 15:

I read the manual, went to their web site and could find no reference to lead before using it. Maybe you could give the page it is in your manual or you could have a different newer manual. You could assume using lead in the weapons being normal if you are finding leading in the barrel and page 15 not pointing out you are not to use it. I can't remember finding leading after useing full metal jacket bullets.
As I stated in the prior post that I shot quite a few lead rounds through the Glock and decided after inspection of the weapon I would no longer shot lead through the gun.

Standard rifling replacement Glock barrels are readily available, drop right into the gun with no gunsmithing, and run about $100.
For this reason, I think there is no reason to push things with unjacketed lead bullets.

Thanks to all!!! I will NOT shoot any cast bullets, and guess I should be glad that I only bought 500 instead of 5000. Only jacketed .40's for my factory barrel Glock! 0 -

That would be the first indicator to an alert shooter, and you shouldn't need a book to tell you that. I would assuming that hearing it from several people with experience would be to no avail either....but here goes...
Polyagonal rifling in either a handgun or a rifle, do not lend well to using lead bullets. There are several types of polyagonal rifling, and the only one that would lend well to lead is the one used in the Desert Eagle pistols, if it were not for having a gas port to contend with.
There is a chance of build up rather quickly, depending on the hardness of the alloy the bullets are cast from.

Kahr handguns also use polygonal rifling. Kahr does not warn against using lead bullets but does say this on their website:
